My life, specifically.

My name is Paul Grzymkowski.

I say this site is my life because it is, or will attempt to be, a log of everything I have ever done. Well, everything of interest at least. Does that seem like a tall order? Perhaps. But I’m the kind of person who is always up for a challenge :-).  Read more about me here.

Life Compression

As I’ve said before, I do not believe there are all that many people that have something interesting to say on a daily basis. And make no mistake, I am no exception. No one cares what some random internet idiot ate any given morning for breakfast*. At least I don’t.

However, if you could take a person’s life and compress it down - cut out all the day-to-day crap, boil it down to its essence, and in doing so reduce it to its most profound and compelling experiences - now you just might have something worth reading. Be it humorous, tragic, amazing, or embarassing (or all of the above) - I do believe everyone has a story to tell. This site is mine.

Backlog

Although we are always moving forward, it seems our minds are often pulling us back. While this log was technically created on May 1st, 2007, my actual “story” begins when I did, 28 years ago. If you watch closely, you will see many older posts have actually been created quite recently. Yes, I am actually writing, and rewriting, my past.

The ability to post both forward and backward in time is actually quite liberating. I am not forced to write about the few interesting things that happen to me any given day, or week, simply to generate new content. I have over 2.5 decades to pull from (and counting).

Through technology I am no longer bound by space and time.

And so, I update when the mood strikes. When I create something new. When a friend reminds of the adventures we once had. When my life changes. When I find a scrap of paper over 10 years old that I wrote a memory on so hastily as if every passing second meant another compelling detail would be lost forever.

Life = Output

I believe one of the best ways to know someone is to examine what they have done. What they have affected. What they have chosen to leave behind.

You are what you create. Life is what you make of it.

Which is precisely why paulog is a log of everything I have ever done. In serving as a record of my studies, it becomes a study of myself. By visiting these pages, you will find almost anything you could possibly want to know about who I am (and a number of things you probably didn’t ;-). Everything I am, and intend to be is within here.
