Happy Paul-o-ween!

April 19th, 2009

So last night I got a Flickr pro account, because I’ve been meaning to do much more with my photos.  All too many of them sit in a box, or on the computer, and never get to see the light of day.  Hopefully through Flickr, and this site, I can change all that.

So, where to begin?  Why not start with something that’s been a real passion of mine over the years:  Halloween!

As many of you know, I love Halloween!

For whatever reason I’ve either just really liked spooky things like ghosts and skeletons or I just really liked the ability to pretend you’re something completely different, if just for one night.

Never being one to simply buy my costume in a kit from a store, I’ve spent quite a bit of time planning out what I wanted to make, what accessories I needed, to ensure I had a quality costume that year.  Something I was proud to parade around in.  And in many cases, I had a lot of support from my family and friends.

So here’s a gallery of some of my Halloween costumes over the years, along with details about how they were made.

A couple of side notes, before we begin:

Anyone with internet access should be able to view the photos, but if you want to add comments or notations to them you’ll have to login to Flickr.  If you have a Yahoo! account (like Yahoo! mail, etc.) you probably already have a Flickr account and don’t even know it, since Yahoo! owns Flickr - but you may need to taken a extra step to actually login / setup your account.  It will be worth it, though, because I plan on posting a lot more photos there going forward.  Also, after logging in you’ll be able to save photos, print them, zoom in, etc.

Flickr or not, I’d really like to hear what you think - the whole point in sharing these photos with you is to get your reactions, trigger your memories, etc. - so if nothing else and you really don’t want to deal with all the Flickr business, you could simply post your comments here instead.  Sound good?

So let’s begin, shall we?

  1. That was fun. My only costume was a beatnick. Black tights and a black beret.
